Episode 16: The 5 x P's plus GLORIA....

Periods, recommended reading, moving house, revisiting our three style words and sexual NDA's ... we cover it all this week.

Hi friends,

We are back with our P’s of the week… We have now got a recurring diary date to record the pod weekly… so lets see how we go. If anyone wants to hold us accountable - please feel free! We’ll take texts, DM’s, letters of demand!

We start off strong with our joint PEAK - it’s the video Mamamia put up this week where three men have simulated period pain and the video is such a great watch. We think it should be mandatory for this type of process to be introduced in upper high school and in workplaces, so that boys and men can have some empathy for what people with a uterus go through every month. What do you think? Do you agree?

The second PEAK is home organisers, namely the fabulous Sharon Alexander from local WA business O2B Organised. She recently visited Caitlin for a one day home organising session and Caitlin is obsessed with the results. We feel like this kind of service is often thought of as a luxury but with the increasing busyness of our lives we feel like we should give ourselves permission (where possible) to get the help we need to feel in control of our surroundings. Its making us want to re-watch the insanely addictive Netflix series Get Organised with THE HOME EDIT.

Zara’s PIT is moving house. Do we need to say more? Does anyone know of a complete moving concierge? We feel like this is a great business niche….

Caitlin has introduced Zara to a great team of movers and packers (who happen to be super hot - are we allowed to objectify men like that?). Anyway, Zara will report back about how they went.

Zara has a PLUG - it’s a wonderful, easy-to-read novella by Andre Aciman the author of the smash hit book (and movie) “Call Me By Your Name”. This new book is called “The Gentleman from Peru”.

Here’s the blurb: a group of college friends find themselves marooned at a luxurious hotel on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. While their boat is being repaired, they can't help but observe the daily routine of a fellow hotel guest - a mysterious, white-bearded stranger who sits on the verandah each night and smokes one cigarette, sometimes two. When the group decides to invite the elegant traveller to lunch with them, they cannot begin to imagine the miraculous abilities, strange wisdom, and a life-changing story he is about to impart to one of the friends in particular. . . Deeply atmospheric and sensual, The Gentleman From Peru weaves achingly poignant insight into a story of regret, fate and epic love.

We are PONDERING the concept of finding your personal style…. and what that actually means. There is some commentary on Tik Tok about people’s obsession with finding their personal style being a misguided idea and we tend to agree. We believe personal style is a journey, not a destination that you can ultimately reach. Your style should evolve as you grow, your life changes and you hit different stages both personally and professionally. When we spoke about Allison Bornstein’s 3 word method in one of our first episodes, it was one of our most popular segments. We thought it was a great opportunity to look back at our 3 words and see if they still ring true a year later…

Zara’s 3 words: STATEMENT, POLISHED, COMFORTABLE

Caitlin’s 3 words: CLASSIC, COMFORTABLE, CONTRARY (or unexpected)

Zara’s words still very much ring true and she has used them as a guiding principle of her ever evolving style. Caitlin’s do too, however she is definitely adding more FUN to her wardrobe as she enters a new life stage and we love to see it!

Please let us know how your 3 words are tracking? We would love to know.

Here’s a great video from Allison about how using your 3 words can elevate a simple jeans and T-shirt look. We appreciate how simply she explains this.

Our PASSION for the week is the literal definition of the word….

Caitlin’s high school friend, who we have named Gloria for the purposes of the pod (not her real name hahaha), has been regaling her with stories about her newly single life after her divorce…. and lets just say, they are wild. We are petitioning Gloria to let us tell the pod listeners more juicy tales. As a recently divorced mum she was apprehensive about jumping back into the dating world, but has been pleasantly surprised by the plethora of men of all ages coming out of the woodwork, the age of consent and trying all manner of things, including being asked to sign a sexual NDA. Thing’s sure have changed since either of us dated last!

We also want to hear from anyone who has tales from RAYA…or any other dating apps for that matter - SLIDE INTO THE DM’S please, we promise we’ll protect your privacy!

Until next time,

Z&C x
