Episode 15: Peak and Pit chaos with JMo...

Very special guest Jonathon Moran comes in hot with Zara for the first dive into our peaks and pits for 2025, with special comments from Caitlin.

Hi friends,

We’re back from a hiatus for the festive season and some big life events - and we’re here with our friend and colleague Jonathon Moran better known as JMo. - The Chief Entertainment Editor of the Daily Telegraph in Sydney, NOVA radio host and host of the Mental as Anyone podcast and upcoming book of the same name. He’s a multi hyphenate media icon who we simply adore and his pop culture knowledge is second to none. With old mate CI under the weather today and her voice nearly gone, she has popped in with special comments to spice things up. Big thanks to our beloved executive reducer Nathanael Cooper for editing out the coughs, and doing his best to level our sound given Caitlin was whispering and also sharing a mic with JMo who was trying not to get sick. Chaos.

We’re kicking off our PEAKS really strongly with Kylie Minogue’s TENSION world tour starting right here at RAC Arena (our wonderful client). JMo and Caitlin were lucky enough to be in attendance over the weekend and they LOVED the show… JMo felt that Kylie was at her absolute best (and he’s seen her many many times before), her voice was on point, she looked incredible and they were both amazed that she even took some song requests!

Check out JMo’s offical review of the show here:

Caitlin and JMo also went to a brand new CBD restaurant for dinner and drinks prior to the concert - Zypher Lounge which is just steps away from RAC Arena on Murray Street and they loved it! Two ex-Nobu chefs are in the kitchen whipping up modern Japanese fare in the heart of the city with a phenomenal drinks list to boot!

Check out Perth is Ok’s review of Zypher here!

In a fabulous PEAK we here at the Peach & Pineapple Podcast received a PR package (!!) from one of our favourite booze brands, Departed Spirit Co. We taste test two of their brand new limited spirit releases, Super Mango and Blood Chello - both are delicious, but it’s the Blood Chello that has stolen our hearts! Snap some up directly from Departed Spirit Co, your local Dan Murphys or independent liquor store. We give it a very enthusiastic P&P stamp of approval.

Caitlin’s PEAK of the week is simultaneously Zara’s PIT and its MAFS…
Caitlin is really getting into this season and she’s utterly addicted. This is her first foray into the world of MAFS and she takes her hat off to the Nine producers for keeping her on the edge of her seat! Zara can’t give her time to MAFS and talks about the reason why. Do you love MAFS? We’d love to know! DM Caitlin if you love it - she needs more MAFS friends. Don’t be embarrassed.

In the vein of disturbing reality TV, Caitlin also recommended the documentary, JERRY SPRINGER: FIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION. This jaw-dropping documentary goes behind the scenes of America's most controversial talk show to expose its biggest scandals, both on- and off-camera. It’s currently streaming on Netflix.

Another PEAK from Zara is her visit to Shade Skin Cancer - a new dedicated skin clinic here in Perth that offers doctor led skin checks with no referral needed and a very short wait time for appointments. Our P&P colleague Emma had a scary discovery during her skin check at Shade, so its confirmed to us that EVERYONE needs to prioritise their skin checks please!

The wonderful Dr Emily Alfonsi also let Zara know that she actually had undiagnosed Papulopustular Rosacea - commonly mistaken for acne. The good news is that Zara has now added some great products to her routine to address this, including the Tower 28 SOS spray and the Go-To Nifty Fifty Mineral sunscreen - both available at Mecca. Highly recommended!

JMo has a PLUG for a new Aussie TV show to watch and its the highly anticipated Invisible Boys on STAN. Shot here in Geraldton and based on a book of the same name by the wonderful Holden Sheppard - Invisible Boys is an emotional tale of identity, sexuality and suicide derived from personal experience about three teenage boys who struggle to come to terms with their homosexuality in a small Western Australian town. Stream it now!

JMo was PONDERING about how Season 3 of Mike White’s TV juggernaut The White Lotus is going to land. He was lucky enough to visit the set on location in Phuket during filming. Here’s JMo’s chat with one of the stars of the season, Jason Isaacs.

The Guardian also penned a great article about everything you need to know before watching Season 3; It’s won 15 Emmy awards. It turned Jennifer Coolidge into a TV idol at 59. It somehow depicted a character pooping into a suitcase – and didn’t instantly lose all of its viewers. In terms of astonishing television, The White Lotus is right up there, and now it’s back for a third season” read the rest here.

JMo was also PONDERING why on earth people insist on putting a hand lotion next to a hand wash in bathrooms, especially public bathrooms in cafes etc… Caitlin and Zara tended to agree. Who is moisturising their hands after each wash? There’s too much room for error when you accidentally pump the lotion instead of the soap…

Do you agree? Or are you someone that requires your delicate mitts to be plumped with moisture after every hand wash? Let us know.

Until next time,

Z&C xxx
