Hello friends!
It’s been a little while since our last pod - we got super busy with work, and had some respective family illnesses to deal with, but we really missed recording and shooting the shit, so here we are.
This week our Peak is Cody Simpson’s insanely good anthem performance at the AFL Grand Final. Holy mackerel. Also loved getting this elite sneak peek video of his day leading up to the performance. This performance really reminded us of what a multi talented person he is… singing, swimming and business. He’s written a childrens book, designed a clothing label, and co founded and developed @dr.hydrate an all-in-one hydration drink to fuel himself properly as a swimmer. It features electrolytes, vitamins, sea minerals, probiotics, amino acids all in one drink.
Which brings us to another multi talented person we know, our friend, colleague and occasional client Hans Bruechle aka HANDBRAKE. He is an artist, MC, actor, voiceover artist and also owns an incredible video production business called Birdhouse Media with his business partner Andrew Hooper.
Another Peak of the Week for Caitlin is the Will & Harper doco on Netflix. This was so surprisingly touching, and educational, and I really think every single person should watch this, with their kids and their parents. I was shocked to see how conflicted Harper felt - she described feeling like a monster and hating herself so much. Will was so kind and genuinely interested in his friend’s journey and learning about the process and how to support transpeople in the best way - love this interview they did to promote it also. Also Kristen Wiig wrote a beautiful song for it called Harper and Will Go West which I loved so much I immediately shazammed it. Watch till the credits to see the song at the very end - its so sweet! Who knew she was also a talented songwriter?
HANDBRAKE’s upcoming exhibition is one of our Plugs of the Week. Fans of his work can expect chaos synonymous with HANDBRAKE’s typical style, with the 18+ exhibition featuring a collection of the artist’s latest gallery works, prints and apparel. In addition to new works, the award-winning HANDBRAKE x Rogue Motorcycles cafe racer and hand-painted Tesla Model S will be on display.
Saturday night guests will enjoy beers, ginger beer and alcoholic lemonade by Margaret River Beer Co, a Stoli Vodka x Handbrake martini ice luge and a specially designed “HANDBRAKE” cocktail created for ‘the end of the world’ at the cash bar PLUS complimentary Mexican street food by Al Pastor. Free HANDBRAKE tattoos are available to be inked by the team at Artful Ink for attendees as well as live DJs and an array of surprises. Past events have seen a long queue for the free tattoos, so best to arrive early as it’s first in first served!

Another Plug for the Week is WAH WAH - an ultra cool knitwear brand from Sydney (not Melbourne like we said on the pod… zero fact checking here until after we record). Designed in Sydney and inspired by the punk rock record covers, gig posters and old-school comics beloved by designer Kaylene Milner since she was a teenager, WAH-WAH reimagines awesome music designs as wearable art. WAH-WAH collaborates with bands and artists both local and international, to create a marriage of the elements of pop culture that is bright, loud, and proudly tongue-in-cheek. Check out the video Zara mentioned where Kaylene talks about her supply chain here.
Caitlin just bought the Tony Albert jumper for her son Ant’s birthday and MY GOD he looks cool. See below paired with the pearl necklace ZB got him for his bday also.
We’re Passing this Week on Alessandro Michele’s debut for Valentino. We LOVE his designs…. but he really just needs his own label stat as it just looks like HIM and not like Valentino. It’s been two years since our favourite maximalist exited Gucci and we’ve been waiting along with everyone else to see what he would do next. There were speculation that Chanel might snaffle him up, but when Pierpaolo Piccioli announced the end of his 25-year tenure at Valentino, the stage was set. In addition to the Guccification of Valentino, all AM’s friends migrated over to the frow also. See Harry Styles, Florence Welsh etc. Its nice they’re supporting their friend of course but they were so aligned with Gucci… and now it feels weird! What does everyone think?
And lastly we’re Pondering this Week what happens when you girl boss too close to the sun. Zara shares one of the times she has and we want to know when its happened to you and what the consequences were?
Please share your stories!
Until next time
Caitlin & Zara xx
